The office
A studio on Katechaki Street in Athens. The second generation of a practice founded in 1977, working with the tools of the next one.
Five decades, one practice
Founded in Athens
Yannis and Mary Kourkoutas open techniki77architects to offer comprehensive architectural design and construction services across Greece, starting with residential architecture.
The hospitality decades
The office takes on hotel design and contributes to the construction of more than 50 hotel developments: resort complexes, conference and convention centres, serviced apartments and suite hotels, many on Rhodes, Kos and Leros, adding to the tourism infrastructure of the islands.
A new generation joins
Vassilis Kourkoutas, Yannis Salesiotis and Nikos Karampinis bring new methods into the practice: 3D building modelling (BIM), design for energy performance and indoor comfort, artificial intelligence and building automation, and parametric models built from each client's requirements.
A book on form
Vassilis Kourkoutas publishes Parametric Form Finding in Contemporary Architecture, on how complex form can grow out of the simplicity of a shape.
Still drawing, still building
Led by Vassilis Kourkoutas, the office delivers projects of every scale with the same commitment to design, technical rigour and a close reading of context, programme and the client's vision.
